Volleyball: Girls

Girls Volleyball
  • Welcome to Yorkville Middle School Girls Volleyball. Volleyball is a fall sport and runs from August through the middle of October. The season culminates in the conference tournament. YMS Volleyball is in the PawPac Conference and competes against teams from Plainfield and a few non conference teams. Throughout the season, the team also participates in several weekend tournaments.

This is a developmental competitive program fielding two teams at both the seventh- and eighth-grade levels. Coaches pride themselves on developing athletes to their fullest potential and ready them to play at the high school level should that be their goal. Working closely with the high school coaches in planning practices, YMS athletes work on drills and implement offensive and defensive strategies similar to the high school, but appropriate for middle schoolers.

Prior to tryouts in August, athletes are encouraged to attend the volleyball summer camp held at Yorkville High School and the summer strength and conditioning camp. At volleyball camp, athletes will get to know other athletes and the coaches, learn drills that are used in practices, and develop skills expected at all levels of the program. The goal of the summer strength and conditioning camp is modeled after the high school camp with a goal of educating athletes on proper conditioning and strength techniques but at the middle-school level.

Once the season gets underway, we practice every day after school from 2:30-5 p.m.
