    Darren is currently in his second term as President of the Yorkville Community Unit School
    District 115 Board of Education, having been elected to the board in 2023. Previously, he
    served as President of the Yorkville Public Library Board of Trustees and as a member of the
    Y115 Citizens Advisory Committee. He is an active member of the Friends of the Library.
    He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Astronomy along with minors in
    Mathematics and Russian Language from Ohio University. Darren graduated with a Master of
    Science degree in Physics from the same institution. Since then, he has attended continuing
    education classes at the United States Particle Accelerator School.


    While in graduate school at Ohio University, Darren was a Teaching Assistant for Introduction to
    Physics and Survey of Astronomy classes and tutored a class in Electricity and Magnetism.
    Utilizing the Eisenhower Grant, he was an instructor at the Ohio University Summer Science
    Camp for children in grades 2-6.


    Darren has worked at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory since 1995, starting his career in
    the Accelerator Division Operations Department as a Main Control Room Operator. Currently,
    he is a Senior Engineering Physicist in the Proton Improvement Plan Project where he plans
    and manages commissioning activities for the laboratory’s newest accelerator under
    construction.


    Darren and his wife Laura have lived in Yorkville for over 20 years. They have two children, one
    an alumnus and the other currently attending Y115.
