General Information

  • Student Use

    The Yorkville High School library is located in the cafetorium. Its purpose is to provide a wide range of information resources for students and staff. The learning center is open from 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on school days. To assure the privilege of using these facilities for faculty and students alike, the school library must have a set of rules and regulations to govern this usage. The student may use the learning center:

    1. When they have a pass from the teacher requiring an assignment.
    2. As part of a teacher-supervised classroom activity program.
    3. During Flex Block.
    4. If they have been granted an early dismissal.
    5. Between 7:00 a.m. and 7:25 a.m.
    6. Between 2:35 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. 

    Student learning center privileges may be suspended at the discretion of the learning center staff. The learning center may be closed to early dismissal students if needed to provide required services for classes.

     

    Circulation 

    All materials are to be checked out at the main circulation desk. Students will present their identification card for scanning. The computer will assign a due date based on material type. Fiction, non-fiction, biography, and short story books will be assigned a two week loan period. Books not in demand will be renewable. Periodicals and reference books may be checked out overnight and are to be returned before Period One the following school day. Videos are not checked out to students. All checked out materials are to be returned at the circulation desk. Each individual who has borrowed materials is responsible for those materials and has the obligation of returning the materials on time and in the same condition in which they were checked out. The lending of materials will be regulated by their type. Fiction, non-fiction and biography books are to be checked out at the main circulation desk. Sign your full name and a study hall period which you attend. Each Monday the return date will be set for a two-week loan period. The same date is used for all books loaned that week. Books not in demand are renewable. Reference books are loaned for one period during the school day. With the librarian's consent these books may be checked out after school and are to be returned before school the following day. Limited loan books may be checked out on a limited loan basis. You must see the librarian if these books are needed for more than one period. Current magazines may be checked out for one period or for overnight after school, to be returned before school the following school day. All materials that have been checked out for a loan period should be returned to the circulation desk.

     

    Fines

    Each person who has borrowed materials is responsible for those materials and has the responsibility of returning the materials on time.  Students who do damage to a book or lose a book loaned to them are responsible and will be charged for the amount necessary to repair or replace that item. Should the lost item be found and returned in good condition, the amount paid for the lost item will be refunded.
